How To: Chiffonade

Chiffonade: to shred, or finely cut a vegetable or herb.

In this instance, remove Basil Leaves from stem and place on top of each other.

Starting at the end closest to you, roll the leaves up lengthwise, in other words from side to side, not top to bottom.

Once the leaves are rolled up, use a chef knife to cut the leaves into strips.

Once you have cut all the leaves, pull them apart - the end result is thin strips of Basil that add a touch of flavor and a great overall look to a finished pizza.
